This is a just a very short note that Joni Belaruski is not able to provide illustrations for Dagenthir after all, due to conflicts with her art and music career, which I totally understand.
I was quite sad to find out… my flat is covered in her art for a reason, after all!
But in the end I need something like 100 to 200 pieces of art to be able to publish the book. This is budgeted to be the biggest expense in getting Dagenthir printed. And an 85 year delay on illustrations (my current estimate of Joni’s delivery deadline) simply doesn’t work 😉
I have found an amazing artist who is excited to join the project… under the prerequisite that I’ll get my shit together. More on this soon!
In the meantime, and to my shame, I’m using AI generated art for Dagenthir, but I really hope I won’t have to use any of this for the first actual print. While AI has come a long way, I’d much rather support artists and illustrators in the community.
