A little pivot towards new worlds

The few of you who are monitoring what’s happening with Dagenthir might have noticed that updates have been slow. Let me tell you why…

While getting the first two books of Dagenthir ready, I started thinking about where to take the world and system next. Some bits were abovious: there will be a full campaign with a few adventures and the description of the biggest city in Dagenthir, and another extension that covers divine powers and other schools of magic.

But then what?

With my recent experience working as Head of Product for Ayoba (a Super App similar to WeChat, but for Africa and the Middle East) and being a huge fan of the African folklore in Neil Gaiman’s American Gods and Anansi Boys, I decided that my next focus will be the continent of Dhoruba, the origin of humans and other races in the world of Dagenthir.

I don’t think African and European folklore have ever successfully combined in a mainstream fantasy role playing game, and I, sure as shit, won’t attempt to achieve this by myself, so, while I’m looking for contributors, I’m changing things in Dagenthir to prepare for the introduction of the continent of Dhoruba.

At the moment I’m looking for collaborators in Africa, because I know it would be somewhere between silly and patronizing to try to do this myself. I’ve already spoken to the amazing (and by now probably rather disappointed) Afrofantasy artist Joshua Clarke for illustrations, but while I’m waiting to get the right team together I’m introducing changes to the human culture, appearance and religions of Dagenthir, and I’ve also introduced a new race that might well have its roots in Dhoruba.

But then, at the same time, the rules and magic system are being greatly improved, and only partially to prepare for ancestor, wealth and secret-based magic… so Dagenthir is progressing!

Stick around, and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!
